Whatever products or services you sell, somebody, somewhere, is looking for helpful information about them right now. They may or may not be ready to buy – but they are actively looking for answers and solutions.
Content marketing is a strategy focused on building authority and trust for your business.
Enquiries and sales are what matter. Creating and sharing content with the right people, in the right places, at the right time builds the authority and trust necessary to drive the highly targeted enquiries and sales your business wants most.
It would be untruthful to say that content marketing is easy. It absolutely isn’t easy. But it is simple. In fact, there are just four critical things you’ll have to deal with to create an effective content marketing strategy.
Not all problems are created equal. First, you need to select problems that people are actively searching for answers to and for which your products and services provide a solution. Why solve unprofitable problems?
Create content with helpful answers to problems - not as an advertisement for your products and services. People appreciate helpful advice and will reach out to you for help if you are an authoritative, trusted source of information.
There is little point in publishing content if nobody can find it. You will need to do some research to find out what pages are already ranking in Google search which solve your selected problem and work out your realistic chances of outranking competitors.
The people you most want to reach are already gathering online. Somewhere. They’re also actively engaging with content that they find useful. Just not yours. Find out where your crowd is already gathering then place your content in front of them.
